Born in 1976 - France

“Successively graffiti artist, sticker bomber, bill poster, or sculptor of random and ephemeral architectural embellishments, 36 has blithely shifted from spray paint to vector graphics."
Gilles de Bure

The world of 36RECYCLAB here expresses itself as a silent parenthesis.
His rigorous work comes exclusively in black and white. His paintings on aluminium, metallic sculptures, drawings and installations all exude his radical aesthetics: absence of colour, sleek visual vocabulary, geometrical forms and composition, digital designs…
From his urban collages to his debut paintings on Dibond substrate, the artist’s personal drawing style is easily recognizable: an entanglement of structures, tubes and pipes, which seem to dig deep within the guts of some industrial beast, plunging us into the meanders of dizzying perspectives.
Large sculptures made of black metallic structures expand, in 3D, the industrial and mechanical world that the artist relentlessly seeks to explore. Geometrical volumes carve on the wall’s white background a composition of great beauty, with clean-cut lines, where the shadows limn its delicate touch.
A polymorphous and transdisciplinary artist, 36 now paints on canvas using the same lexicon, while freeing himself from the digital realm. The forms, architectural composition and perspectives blend into the medium to become mere traces of painting, driven by an abstract dynamic.
36RECYCLAB's body of work reflects his very personal interest in architecture, design, graphic design, skateboard and more generally, urban culture. Taking an active part in his various fields of interest, 36 draws on his daily life to create and reflect on his art.
