Presentation

Fred Bred is a French artist born in 1973. He proposes a playful and dreamful pictorial work, an extension of the nostalgic universe from former times advertising iconography.

Using the principles of Pop Art, his artwork, resolutely figurative, is inspired of motifs from mass communication (logos, headlines, visual identity). His spontaneous approach is deployed without any limits in the colors and shapes to the point of invading and filling the space.

Fred Bred thereby creates a kaleidoscopic universe, occupied by characters and products removed from their original medium (advertising posters, newspapers, comics...). From Japanese mangas to pin ups and the housewives of the 50's, his world literally blows up to express a joyful and deliberately artificial vision of the society.

Fred Bred sets up the incongruous aestheticism of the convenience goods, by taking them out of their usual environment and by multiplying them, he plays in the acid pop.

These ephemeral products, with no poetry, in principle reserved for oblivion, become cult items. It is a way for this fetishist of flee-markets to save the traces of the oblivion of past.
