René Guisset

Born in 1935 in Céret, René Guisset works as a farm worker in Estagel, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. He lives alone, in utter destitution, and experiences serious health problems. He spends most of his days making wooden sculptures, made with recycled materials: crates of fruit and vegetables, backs of paint cans recovered on construction sites and nails. He is loath to sell these objects, sometimes offering them to his visitors.
