Captain Fluo

France

BIOGRAPHY

An iconoclast artist, Captain Fluo hold a camara for the first time at the age of 7. He masters the art of iphonography, without turning his back on his Nikon SLR or his Sony compact. His iPhone is always beside him whenever he visit his two favorite places, Paris and Corsica, his native lands. He made his first artistic steps besides Speedy Graphito, his travelling companion. He then followed his own path working as artistic director for the magazine Phenomene.

The artist adds a touch of humor to his classical subjects: vanities, westerns..... a poetic fiber influences his attraction for the twisted. He was the winner of the Goncourt prize in 2012 with an out of the ordinary diptych which challenged the classical codes of art: one depicting the author with his eyes open while the other with his eyes closed. Subversion mixes with the ancient charm of Corsican decoration, while his surrealist photographs reflect his unlimited imagination. His Surrealism reflects joy.

Already an sacred young reporter at Kodak by the age of 12, he obtained the Young Photographer Award in 1980 and 1981 during the International Photo Encounters in Arles. He had the honor of appearing on the front page of Le Monde, Libé and Echos..... From 2000 to 2005 he worked as illustrator for Le Monde newspaper. His rising continued with an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, with "Fabricated Images". The artist participates as well in performances at the FIAC or even at the Lafayette Galleries, and recently in contemporary art fairs in Northern Europe.
