Anne-Flore Cabanis lives and works in Paris.
After a course with the artist Annette Huster, Anne-Flore Cabanis studies with artists Bernard Piffaretti, Sylvie Fanchon, Dominique Figarella (atelier P2F) and Philippe Cognée. She also follows a workshop Of Sophie Calle at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris. She graduates from the Beaux-Arts in 2007. She has developped a very personal visual universe originated by her drawing pratice.
Since 2001 she has been drawing random trajectories with ink pen on paper. This writing follows some simple rules: a line drawn freely, by hand, that doesn't cross itself and only forms right angles.
The result is an organic one and suspends our attention in floating introspection. After having studied in Brazil in 2005, she develops this language in space under various forms: performance, sound, collage in situ made with adhesive tape, and 3D lines installation.
Her in situ interventions play with the architecture of the public or private spaces. By breaking the visual silence, they reveal the presence of invisible movements. The artist orchestrates appearences and disappearences of lines and colours that generate a reading, give a direction, invite to a moment of reflection upon the movement of the bodies, of the gaze or of thoughts.
The artist realized her first in situ adhesive tape collage for an exhibition in the Terminal 5 of the JFK Airport in New York, in 2004.
Her projects brought her to work at the Centquatre (Paris), in the Ixelles area in Brussels (Belgium), in a public school in Aubervilliers (Paris area), at the Metz train station, at the Filature (Mulhouse).
