Born in 1956 - France
Born in Bayonne in 1956, Franck Cardone is a self-taught artist. His talent as a draftman led him to join the section of plastic arts of his high school, but this was a bad experience for him and marked the end of all artistic activity for him at that time. He then joined a training in carpentry. Once he finished, he started drawing again and began exhibiting his work. His lack of artistic training makes him one of the representatives of raw art.
After another phase of his career dedicated to the decoration of diverse objects such as surfboards, he started to work on a canvas once again. His pieces are characterized by a proliferation of characters and animals, which are entangled with each other, creating a unique and colorful pattern, which resembles a stained glass window. To do this he uses different techniques, and combines oil paint, acrylics, drawing and Posca.
He has been xhibiting his work in galleries since 1990, his work became part permanently of the Musee de la Creation Franche de Begle in 1992, entirely dedicated to raw art. Then, he joined other French, Italian and Spanish institutions, while still exhibiting in European galleries. During the Marseille European Capital of Culture in 2013, his pieces were exposed during the exhibition "Waterfront" and he was selected for the exhibition "United Colors of Marseille".
