Claude Viseux is a French painter and sculptor born in 1927 in Champagne-sur-Oise and died November 9, 2008. He studied architecture at the National Superior School of Fine Arts of Paris. In 1951, he meet architect Jean Prouvé, then sculptor Brancusi the following year. Until 1958, Claude Viseux was essentially a painter.

In 1959, the artist started sculpting and created his pieces with pre-machined mechanical pieces taken from the industrial world. Everything inspires him and few of his works share the same subject. He is insterested as well in the idea of an unstable equilibrium.

Among other prestigious exhibitions, he exhibited with Henri Michaux and Joaquin Ferrer at the Gallery Le Point Cardinal in Paris. He participated as well in the design and creation of ballet sets and costumes.Claude Viseux's sculptures are present in numerous public places and museums. Museum of Modern art of Paris, the Museum of Algiers, of Miami, Mexico city, Warsaw, Foundation Maeght, Museum Middelleim in Antwerp, Museum Cantini in Marseille, Collection of Royal Museums in Belgium, Museum of Dunkerque etc. In 1992, the quality of his work was recognized once again: he won the Anton Pevsner Award for Contemporary Sculpture.
