Presentation

Painting is a tradition which has been passed on in Sylvain Claude's family. His father cultivated Sylvain's interest for drawing before he reached the age of five. His grandfather passed on hundreds of paintings and caricatures. This family tree will even take you back to two students from the famous landscape school in Barbizon.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Sylvain Claude can paint Paris with such charm and power. His technical training took place in his beloved capital. He learned to draw rue Sorbier in the 20th district before learning watercolor and oil painting techniques in 1988 in the 11th. He finally completed his studies in 1989 with night classes on composition and layout at the Boulle school.

The black lines and colorful touches seem inspired by Van Gogh's urban scenes, but Vlaminck's work is what first comes to mind when looking at Sylvain Claude's well thought and relevant canvases, particularly with his audacious use of colors.

Sylvain Claude mainly creates medium sized oil paintings and continues to beautify Paris, depicting the capital from original, sometimes melancholic angles, which earned him a loyal audience of connoisseurs.
