Marie Meulien is a French artist living in the Drôme.
After studying communication, she worked for thrity years in the field of engineering edition and consulting. In 2012, she decided to dedicate to her passions: poetry and photography.
Poetry has always been an obvious way of expression for Marie Meulin, but it was not until 2008 that she became aware of the poetic potential of photography and of its communication power. Since then, she has used this medium in order to give the world a new perspective, tending to be depleated of all kind of cultural and social biases, accepting nature as it is.
Her photographs reveal a reciprocal relationship when we look at them: man looks at nature as much as nature does to man. This approach is specially appreciated in her first work " The Dry and the Sap" which is a hymn to the tropical forest. "The forest looks at me. It gives me images...it is an ineffable experience, not having any specific forms. Should we say? Should we show?"
Plants and poetry play a main role in her work. First she admires its incredible capacity to regenerate, second its liberating power that allows us to resist our human being condition.
In addition to her exhibitions, Marie Meulien writes a book for each one of her projects.
