Born in 1993 - France
Louise Ternat is a French artist from Rouen, and was born in 1993. Currently, she lives and works in Paris. After several years of studies in fine and applied arts, the artist continues her studies now in animation at the Decorative Arts School in Paris. Ternat is particularly fond of lounging and dancing in the sweaty crowds.
Someone who is in love with their paper and pen, Louise Ternat has not found another way to express her distaste for humans than drawing. Historically, the artist is constantly drawing boards for comic books that tell short stories of everyday life. These are scenes of dull lives in boring places that happen to ordinary people. Sometimes portraits, sometimes self-portraits; sometimes invented stories but usually observed ones. The artist secretly admits she would like some of these characters come to life - especially when it comes to male figures. For others, she prefers to put them on paper and end it there.
Louise works mainly with a fine tip, black pen. For the paper, she focuses on format, embossing, weight, thickness and color to give the frenetic artistic production dimension. Ternat accumulates singular papers that turn into showcases for the drawing. Unflattering, human portraits frequently take postures and animal traits which reflect an unusual look at our human behavior. These bodies proportions that are often mixed with humorous texts bring to life exquisite corpses.
