Stéphanie Lacombe

Born in 1976 - France

Stephanie Lacombe was born on 18th March, 1976 in Figeac in the Lot region. She lives and works in Paris. Her personal reflection is based on intimacy. During three years, she went from city to city, from plate to plate, taking pictures of hundreds of families as part of her project, « La table de l’ordinaire » which received the Prix Nièpce in May 2009. In 2007, she participated at the Sentiers de l’Olympe, sponsored by Raymond Depardon.

In 2001, she observed 3500 apartments of the public housing in Grigny and realized they were built identically and therefore pondered on how the people managed to adapt in such places. In 2002, driven by the influence of porno-chic in the media and by angry feminists, she questioned sexual practices in sadomasochistic circles. In order to do this, she followed five women in their utmost privacy and observed a lot of tenderness and poetry.
