Daniel Timmers's career didn’t follow a straight path…
He grew up in Antwerp until he was 6, and then in Le Mans, France, and, after studying in a Jesuit school, he started working in a printing and publishing factory. That gave him the opportunity to become familiar with printing techniques.
At the age of 18, he became a racehorse breeder and trainer. A few years later, he created a magazine dedicated to ships and then switched careers again, and started up a company that built industrial equipment; he had this business for 15 years.
At the age of 50, he moved to Perpignan, and the beauty of nature inspired him to paint luminous landscapes. After Perpignan, he moved to Fontainbleau and stayed for one year. This short stay marked the beginning of his artistic career. The feminine portrait genre takes over his practice. He decides to show his work and take part in prestigious art salons in Europe and gets discovered by art galleries. His paintings have been acquired by numerous private collections in France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Russia, Japan and the US.
Daniel Timmers has been living in Normandy since 2005.
