Having a degree in Plastic arts, Marie Claude Bugeaud, teaches and paints following the same line. Born in 1941 in the City of Lights, she stayed there and started working as a teacher at the National Superior School of Applied Arts and Crafts.
References abound in the pictorial work of Marie Claude Bugeaud, just like Piero's fresco where "action takes place, without the possibility of going back and redoing it, without a safety net " noted art historian, Romain Mathieu. Her monochromes give the impression of an action painting of the same sort of Jackson Pollock's work and his all over (member of the post-war abstract Expressionism movement). But the art historian rectified this first impression, because for the artist "the struggle is againts the fascinating and definitve beauty of monochrome with which the painting is initiated". Her canvases stand out for the brightness of its colors and their disproportionate size. Her traits are like a sort of dance for the eyes, an oscillation.
"Marie-Claude Bugeaud is a painter of oscillation. Between line and color, between abstraction and allusion to some elements- hair, mouth.....- her work advances. Forces collide and find, their own place, in this collision. The lightness of the arabesques counteract the blackness of the points. The artist has done several solo exhibitions; at the Vieille du Temple Gallery (Paris, 2009), at Pierre Colt Gallery (Nice, 1995), at Corinne Caminade Gallery (Paris, 1997), at Maison des Arts de Malakoff (2000), and at the ESAD Gallery (Reims 2001) he has done as well numerous collective exhibitions about the artist Pierre Buraglio (Jean Fournier Gallery, Paris). He has also done several public commissions; for the Municipal Fund of Contemporary Art of the city of Paris, of Vitry sur Seine, of Hauts de Seine, Val de Marne etc...
