Claude Pélissier

Claude PELISSIER was born on November 28, 1948 in Philippeville, married and father of 4 children. Engineer by training, installed in Seine et Marne at the age of 25, after a youth lived in Vaucluse. His professional career has led him during 2/3 of his life to practice in the field of "research and development". Thus, like an artist in front of his blank sheet, Claude had to show creativity, imagination and perseverance. Quite naturally, he takes a lot of care in the design of the products and makes there, in a way, his beginnings as an artist and sculptor. Very quickly this need to create, imagine and dream takes precedence over his hobbies and quickly becomes a passion. After various creations from the work of wood and steel, he finally turned to the realization of bronzes. Self-taught, having experimented with several processes, Claude specialized in techniques using polyurethane as the main material instead of earth. This technique requires the use of rigid polyurethane foam, which he sculpts in the mass and then covers successive layers to stiffen the creation. The master model thus obtained will therefore be used to make the mold necessary for casting the bronze. Particular attention is paid to the quality of the patinas, through which appear softness and femininity. In 2009 he launched a collection of colored resins which met with great success in galleries. Young grandfather, Claude Pélissier is contemplative in front of his small daughters “Audrey, Sophie, Camille and Olivia”; it is the beginning of his inspiration which instinctively guides him towards the use of the graphic design of the initials of these last three. The letters S, C and O became the starting point for the concept of his sculptures.
