After studying chemistry at a technical high school in 1955, Pierre-Gérard Langlois studied decorative arts at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Rouen in 1956. He began painting in 1957, but working professionally in the setting and stage costume, he worked from 1959 for the National Theater of Jean Vilar before being decorator at Lanvin (until 1962), then At Chanel (until 1964). Félix Valoussière (director of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées) and Élie-Léon Brami (director of the Galerie-Vendôme) then met with his painters and organized his first exhibitions in Paris ( See personal exhibitions below).
The 1970s were marked by numerous exhibitions in the provinces (Auch, Béziers, Val d'Isère, Quiberon, Rennes, Toulouse) and Paris (especially the Galerie de Paris, which also welcomed Yves Brayer, Michel Ciry, Brasilier and Camille Hilaire), overseas France (Saint-Denis de la Reunion) and abroad (Tunis, San Antonio, Texas). They see his painting (oils and acrylics) defined as a semi-abstract landscaping, with large flat areas superimposed in a minimal chromatic register (pushed in the Marines until the monochrome and the camouflage) gray, white, beige and black Does not fail to suggest the work of Nicolas de Stael. The diversity of colors comes back from 1976 (date of his trip in Thailand and his series of Bonzes) with, besides still lifes, his themes of Masks of Venice, Touaregs, Moroccan Villages, Musicians, New York and the Rooftops of Paris.
