Presentation

Christophe Chabouté is a French draftsman, from the world of comics, born in 1967. He studied at the Fine arts school in Angouleme then Strasbourg. The publishing house Vent d'Ouest published his first plates in 1993 in "Tales", a collective album on Arthur Rimbaud. The series "Witches" with the Téméraire editions (awarded at the Illzach festival) then "A few days in the summer" with Paquet editions (Alph-Art Coup de Cœur at the Angouleme festival) which was revealed to the public. While working as a draftsman and illustrator, he also works as an artist. Originally from Alsace, he lives in Ile d'Oleron now.

His artistic work is mostly in black and white, a means of expression but far from aesthetic and narrative restrictions. Color is only presented to bring meaning and tell a story. He skims over the dreaded practice of inking, and looks for pure emotions at the bottom of the inkwell. He isn't afraid of ink spots as accidents open new graphic paths and go beyond traditional codes.
