After studies at the Higher School of the decorative arts of Strasbourg, and the national Fresnoy-Studio of contemporary arts, Clã©ment Cogitore developed a practice to mid-way between cinema and contemporary art.
Mixing films, videos, installations and photographs his work questioned the modalities of bedfellows of men with their images.
There is the more often question of rituals, of collective memory, of figuration of the sacred as well as of a certain notion of the permeability of worlds.
His films have been selected in many international festivals (Directors' Fortnight Cannes, festivals of Locarno, Lisbon, Montreal ... ) and have been rewarded on several occasions. His work has also been projected and exposed in many museums and arts center (Palais de Tokyo, Center Georges Pompidou - Paris, Haus der Kultur der Welt - Berlin, Museum of fine arts - Boston ... ).
Born in 1983 in Colmar, Clã©ment Cogitore lives and works between Paris and Rome, where he was appointed to the 2012 boarder of the Academy of France to Rome-Villa Medici.
