Born in 1975 - Georgia
Born in 1975, Mirza Davitaia, saw the light of the day in Tbilisi, Georgia, even Soviet Union those days.
His father was a painter himself, the two parents decided to enroll Mirza Davitaia in an art school as soon as he turned ten. He studied at the Nuremberg Academy from 1994 until 2000. At this time, West Germany represented a big pool of creation and extravagance. His art was nourished due to his two-fold education, brought up between the Eastern Europe and the Western Europe culture.
The struggle for artistic freedom and politics takes up a whole new meaning for Mirza Davitaia. He's one of those people who have had several lives during one. He had a political role in Georgia, as he was the member of parliament, but also got a great deal of media attention, as a TV and cinema producer.
Mirza Davitaia initially devoted himself to sculptures, but quickly turned towards painting and never changed directions. Meanwhile, he also worked with collage and ink. He gives priority to abstraction in large formats.
In his paintings, the artist is able to transmit a certain gentleness. His strokes are fluid, without any hitches, they insinuate the series "Rain". It's just like when we look at the color of rain on the window and feel lost, the same way the artist is able to inspire us with the movement of his work.
The artist has exhibited all around the world, from China to U.S.A, not to mention Europe.
