Born in 1990 - Haiti
biography under completion
Lesly Pierre Paul (1990) is a young artist from Port Au Prince in Haiti. Lesly's work shows a move away from the traditional sqaure and rectangle picture plane as he often creates round cutouts with cardboard as his surface in which to create on.
His strong sense of design and balance is further enhanced and dictated by his format choices. His subjects are given primary importance as they burst out toward the edges. The subject becomes all important and iconic. Lesly's subject matter consists of pyramids, eyes, snakes and the human/spirit form - themes are related to evil in Vudou ideology. His work shows a sophistication of subject placement and control - sense of color is often daring and confident.
He has been inspired by artist Guyodo (born Frantz Jacques 1973), a founding member of the Atis Rezistans. Lesly's dream is to collaborate with other artists around the world and to exhibit internationally.
A first exhibition with the art collective "New Vision" (http://www.haitiart.org/) is planned for 2016 in Port Au Prince.Read more
