Born in 1970 - Hungary
Boglárka Sajó is a Hungarian art brut artist.
Boglárka Sajó started painting, which is her best way of self-expression, on the encouragement of one of her friends’. Artistic creativity, medication and psychotherapy led to improvement in self-esteem and remission of depression. She is active member of Budapest Art Brut Gallery and easily internalizing and developing different creative techniques. Her works are of great variety and can be divided into different periods.
Not wanting to raise preconceptions in her spectators her pictures are untitled. Reception of art – according to Boglárka – is a personal journey through imagination and our own character.
With her own words: “Whatever I paint it cannot live without spectators. When my thoughts and the spectator’s psyche encounter then the work of art is born.” The pictures shown here were made by her newly developed technique: different colours are put on the carton with aquarelle or acrylic; then through mixing and blotting paints splatters without contours are formed that are dissolving into each other and finally serving as background of the picture. The next step is drawing -- with gel pen and contour glass paint – following the lines of different figures and forms she perceives in the splatters. Then the drawn silhouettes are subject to further refinement and decoration. She says her method is similar to that of children seeing figures in the clouds floating in the sky.
Boglárka Sajó’s pictures are full of rich, elaborated details and shapes. The birth of her artistic works of creativity and imagination coincides with getting out of depressive periods and feeling positive.
