Born in 1979 - Iran
Gohar Dashti was born in Ahwaz (Iran) in 1980. She lives and works in Tehran and Berlin. A graduate of a Master's degree in photography from the University of Tehran, she has participated in numerous collective exhibitions (Tehran, Berlin, Paris, Washington DC, etc. ) and solo shows in France and in Iran.
Her work, mainly photographic, explores the turbulent past of Iran and is a testimony of the resilience of the generation after the Islamic revolution face to the rigidity of the regime and of the morals.
She has participated in several artists' residencies and was rewarded by several scholarships such as DAAD (2009-2011); Visiting Arts (1mile2 project), Bradford / London, United Kingdom (2009) and Arts and International Artists (Art Bridge), Washington DC, USA (2008).
She has had various exhibitions in the entire world, being represented in many museums, festivals and biennales. Her works are included in many collections including the Museum of Fine Arts (MFAH), Houston (TX, USA) and Nelson-Atkins Museum Museum of Art, Kansas City, KS, USA).
