Antonio Tamburro

Born in 1948, Antonio Tamburro is an Italian painter. He studied painting besides Neapolitan masters, Giovanni Brancaccio and Franco Gentilini. He taught at the School of Art of Spoleto until 1981, before deciding to dedicate exclusively to painting. He currently lives and works in the region of Naples.

His pieces are part of a figurative world, where metropolitan subjects dominate : anonymous crowds, chaotic circulation, people under the rain...The most thrilling scenes of urban life are represented in his work. To represent this boiling, colors is at the service of rhythm. Nevertheless, absence seems to play an important role, just like in his works which drifts their focus from the city and depict the solitary poses of female figures captured in their private domestic life or in isolated urban scenarios. In his canvases something has been lost, but not completely, there is still something that can scape modernity. Antonio Tamburro's painting is not a concern, but a reseach for sensuality, in the city and in the intimate.

Antonio Tamburro exhibits his work regularly in Italian galleries since the beginning of the 70s. During the 90s, his paintings were exhibited in Canada. Afterwards, the artist exhibited his work in Switzerland, Monaco and Germany. In all, the artist has done more than 30 exhibitions and is still active, he has also been part of prestigious publications, in the Artein and Arte Mondadori magazines, among others.
