Riccardo Prosperi, also known as SIMAFRA, is a 29-years-old Florentine painter. He begins painting in 2000 and learns the decoration and classic art restoration crafts by working for five years in a well-known florentine studio. He gets individual art lessons from the professor Ottavio Troiano. In 2004 he begins participating in art contests and collective exhibitions in whole Tuscany. In 2007 the artist begin to expose his paintings in italian and foreign galleries. In 2008 Simafra stays for a while in Paris. In the same year, he wins an exhibition prize at “Premio Italia”.
In 2009 he begins a collaboration with the florentine “Ken’s art” gallery. In 2010 he works together with the gallery in Germany (respectively Galerie Golkar in Bonn and Infantellina Contemporary in Berlin). Simafra also lived in Bonn for a while. Two paintings of the artist are also part of a scenery of a television film shooted in Berlin (channel ARD).
The works of Simafra Prosperi are now part of the collections of private national and international collectors and institutions, among them: the finance minister of Lebanon, the Cipriani restaurant in Ibiza, Palazzo Tod’s from Diego della valle, the private apartment of Cameron Diaz in Manhattan (New York), as well as the private collection of Mr. Vahland, the vice-president of Volkswagen.
In 2012 the artist takes part at the Art Arsenal (international biennale exhibition in Kiev). In January of the same year he creates “LA BOTTEGA MODERNA”, an independent cultural space as well as the artist atelier.
In June 2013 Simafra holds an exhibition at Cellai Hotel in Florence. In August of the same year he takes part at the collective exhibition “Odds & Sods” in the famous gallery Art Moor House, an architectonic complex in London designed by Norman Foster.
In december 2013 he holds an exhibition in the Cadogan Contemporary gallery in London, where he is one of the core artists.
Simafra is active as artist in Florence and works together since 2011 with the architect Michele Bonan and Studio Dimore Collection.
He works also together with the historical florentine carpet manufacturers Boralevi, by producing graphics signed by Simafra for modern carpets and rugs.
