Emila Sirakova

Born in 1984 - Italy

Emila Sirakova was born in Sofia (Bulgaria) in 1984. She lives and works in Milan.

She was graduated in 2008 from the Academy of the Fine arts of Brera (Milan).

Art is «cosa mentale». This expression perfectly matches with the work of Emila Sirakova; her drawing dissects feelings across the powerful expression of muscles, positions and of correlations between bodies. Her scenes look like erotic ballets where the beings that brush, or are mixed, are only the facets of the same person. (Besides, the artist constructs her work with different cards or papers).

Everything indicates that we are in a psychical world. By instant, the solid drawing capable to explore every crease, becomes blurred up to absence or then brings mythological masks. The physical body, this «visible which works the invisible» dear to Michelangelo, moves in the world of fluids, air or water, as manifest it the grace of movements and of gestures; feeling confirmed by the use of painting in tachism, paints-run and nuagisme (paint cloud).

Combining Italian Renaissance and oriental philosophy, the work of Emila Sirakova represents the space beyond conscience, where, contrary to material life, antagonistic forces dance.
