Giovanna Rasario

Giovanna Rasario is an Italian painter, born in Sicily. She lives and works in Florence.

She studied history of medieval art in Rome and did a PHD in modern history. Not only is Giovanna Rasario an artist, she is also a researcher and an art historian. At the end of her career, she became the director of the Florentine Museum Network. Her expertise also lead her to direct several restoration projects in Florence and even teach contemporary art at university.

Her work focuses on large format oil canvases. Initially she was more inclined towards figurative art, but she gradually moved towards abstraction.

Giovanna Rasario's work is exhibited around the world and is mainly present in the public collection of Ecole Normale supérieure in Pisa and the Social anthropology institute in Florence. Her work is also part of private collections around the world, including Rome, Paris and New York.
