Anna Chromy

Anna Chromy was born in 1949 on the banks of Moldova, river that connects her place of birth Cesky Krumlov and Prague her mother's hometown. Anna spent her youth between Salzbourg and Vienna. The youngest of four girls, he was the only one to inherit from the artistic talent of her father. Her music never left her and had an important influence on her first creations.

Very early, she started to draw but only registered at the Beaux-Arts academy in Paris after her marriage. After twenty years of painting and a long immobilization due to an accident she began a new evolution in her career and decided to exclusively dedicate herself to sculpture by using bronze and marble. Since that time, she has participated in almost hundreds exhibitions.

Anna Chromy is the first woman artist that received the Michelangelo prize, the first feminine foreign artist to have been exhibited at the National Museums of Peking and Athens; she also worked for the Vatican and other personalities.

In 2008 she created the "Le Manteau de la Conscience" that she painted 30 years ago. Anna Chromy had the opportunity to get a block of white marble of 250 tonnes, that she curved during 3 years in the Michelange workshop in Carrare to create a masterful artwork of 60 tonnes.
