Born in 1947 - Netherlands
Frans Peter Verheyen is a very active photographer, designer and filmmaker. He lives and works in The Netherlands.
He started with photography on the age of 18 after seeing Antonioni’s Blow-Up. He has been working his whole life in advertising but never abandoned photography. The finding of an forgotten box filled with negatives from the 70's and 80's inspired him to start a mixed media series based on the old photo's and negatives. He made over a hundred works over a four year period and called it "rude awakening". A book was made of this work.
Even before the photoshop era he made photo montages in the darkroom, hand painted darkroom prints, or in-camera double exposures. Later on he used the first digital photo manipulation possibility: the paintbox.
