Jerzy Treit

Born in 1969 - Poland

Jerzy Treit was born december 24,1969 in Opole. He attended the PLSP( State College of Art) in Zakopane. Later on in 1991, he pursued his studies in art history at the Catholic University of Lublin, where he founded the Gallery 1. In 1992, he won an art scholarship by an American foundation and he went to Paris.

The artist devotes as much attention to the capricious line as to the subtle, aggressive or intriguing color. A hero of composition, Jerzy Treit's images make reference to surrealism in a different and new way, as well as to German expressionism and to French, Germanic and Slavic literature.

His images do not lack sharp and contrasting colors and propose connections with the rest of the real world and to the abstract explorations of Henri Michaux and Hans Hartung. The intensity of his work is such that by looking at his paintings we forget our problems and share with their creator, the wild and evocative vision of a world in which there is always some room for a ray of light.
