Presentation

Enoc Perez was born in San Juan in 1967. He initially took painting lessons at the age of 8. Son of an art critic, he spent his holidays with his family, and saw museums in various countries and learned the history of art. In 1986, Perez settled down in New York to study painting at the Pratt Institute, before his maters at Hunter College. He had been living in Manhattan since 1997, Perez was surrounded by major sky scrapers and architecture of New York, which has an influence on his work.

Inspired by Andy Warhol and his silkscreen painting in New York, Perez developed his very own innovative method, which imitated the color printing process.

He adhered to the potential of art, for pleasure and beauty, Perez paints sensual nudes, still life, tropical locations and modern architectural icons in an elegant manner with shimmering and vibrant colors. He also leans on many other techniques: engraving, drawing, painting. Perez is mostly known for his modern building painting, which captures the utopian ambitions but also optimism, that inspired their construction. Perez injects life through the utopian aspect of modern architecture, with a lot of nostalgia.

Enoc Perez's work is present in major institutions: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; British Museum, London, Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, Florida, Yale University Art Gallery…He created several buildings like the one of Seagram or the Eero Saarinen TWA terminal, not to mention UNO's building.
