Presentation

Andreï Molodkin is a Russian artist who was born in Boui in 1966. At just 12 years of age, he discovered a passion for tattoos (which were illegal in Russia at the time) and decided to study art. After his studies, he enrolled in the Russian army, which led him to work in Siberia in the oil industry. Andreï Molodkin now splits his time between Paris and Moscow.

Andreï Molodkin’s art deals with issues relating to religion, politics, culture, economy and identity. The years he spent in Siberia have helped to shape his artistic signature. A firm believer that oil contributes to the identity of the countries which produce it, he produces artwork which relates to this idea, asking each citizen about his or her relationship with his or her country.

Andreï Molodkin has exhibited his work “Direct From The Pipe” and “Sweet Crude American Dream” in Paris and New York. Some of his paintings are part of famous private collections, including those of the State Russian Museum in St Petersburg, the Freud Museum in St Petersburg and the Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow.
