Vincent Osemwegie is a Nigerian artist born in 1977 in Senegal. Coming from a polygamous family of a man and 5 women, he grew up with 21 brothers and sisters. Passionate about art since childhood, always scribbling in the sand or modeling statues in red clay, it was quite obvious that he will choose to study painting. A few years later, his diploma obtained, he settled in South Africa, where he lives since 2009.
After a difficult artistic begining , the year 2013 marks a turning point in the career of Vincent Osemwegie. His pictorial technique was transformed and matured, going from realism to affirmative expressionism. Liberated from any conformist straitjacket, the artist imposes his artistic identity and started using the technique of the dripping in his work and dripping become his characteritic, and it gives his creations a real intensity and a unique touch.
During his career Vincent Osemwegie has participated in several group exhibitions, contemporary art fairs, and in 2014, a solo exhibition in Johannesburg, South Africa.
