Presentation

María Bleda (Castellón, 1969) and José María Rosa (Albacete, 1970) are known to be one of the most remarkable references of Spanish contemporary photography.

Their aim is to represent territory where they highlight complex relationships between cultures and times which fortify space. Through this prism and with a great strength of evocation, they are able to transform landscape into image. In a large-scale series, they build works with underlying history of spaces. They explore the past which activates imagination and memory but also poetry and reality. The duo base their work on a rich and meaningful reflection, on the construction of photographic space and the relationship between nature and culture.

Bleda and Rosa have done several solo exhibitions all around the world, Valence, Madrid, Porto, Collioure, but also collectives exhibitions in museums or galleries. Since 1995, their work has been awarded like the first national photography prize by the Ministry of culture of Spain or even the photography revelation in 2005 in Madrid. Their works have been published in artist books, catalogs, magazines...Several museums, foundations, ministries have acquired their work privately.
