Manuel Facal Ponte, born in Carballo, A Coruña, in 1943, is a painter and engraver galician.
Early dedicated to drawing, with inspiration from Picasso, Dali or Urban Lugrís. Approaches to trends a conventional short time living in Vigo. In the mid seventies he moved to Barcelona to study and work in graphic design and textile.
His dedication to the engraving begins during his stay in London, in the seventies, where he learned the technique of hand the Argentine Carmen Garcia. Interested texture and morphology of the materials. Travels through Greece, Turkey and Italy and cultivates a kinetic emparentable with Vasarely and Eusebio Sempere, precise, geometric, almost mechanical.

His mastery of the techniques of engraving lead him to produce works for artists such as Miró; also tries to paint the big chair, away from formal representation, and their folders recorded on Rosalia de Castro, Alvaro Cunqueiro and other Galician writers.

No stamping leaves and one of the most notable was the series of etchings titled "Ashes of Love," based on texts by Spanish poets. In 1987 settles in a hill town of Malaga.

Is represented in museums of Galicia, Central and South America, United States, Spain, Portugal and the Scandinavian countries.
