Born in 1950 in Villaverde de Guarena, José Portilla studied Fine Arts in San Eloy and Arts and Crafts in Salamanca, before joining the Artistic Circle of San Lluc in Barcelona. José Portilla currently lives and works in Salamanca.
During the 60s, he became part of the group Tormes. His pieces are characterized by having a balance of color and texture, allowing to create a suspended, peaceful, pleasant world. He wants the viewer to travel through his pieces about the world, sea and life.
