Manolo Belzunce was born in Lorca, Spain, in 1944. He studied at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in Murcia. He began his career as a painter in the studio of Carlos Gomez. In the sixties and seventies, he lived alternately in Murcia, Las Palmas, Brussels and Barcelona, where he became professor at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Rubì. Later on, he moved to Arles and then returned to Spain, where he founded an engraving workshop with artists Josep Borras and Carlos Mendez.

His works, paintings or collages, are the result of various inspirations and influences, ranging from his trips to Africa to allegories, myths and historical elements.

Manolo Belzunce has obtained numerous awards and grants in Spain and Europe. His work is represented in more than 50 museums around the world, and it has been exhibited by galleries in Spain, France, Hungary, Netherlands, England, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
