Ivan Santo

Santo, born in Tarragona in 1793 comes from a family of painters. His uncle Josep Icart and Espallargas had a great inlfuence on him during his childhood and adolescence. He graduated as a technician in plastic arts from the Llotja School in Barcelona.

A multidisciplinary artist: graphic design, illustration, fashion designer, performance, video art, painting.... founding member and creator of the brand Barrio Santo in which he worked intensively during seven years, after gaining great succes in the international scene, Santo dedicates now, more than ever to his artistic facet as a painter.

His work is a collection of abstract visual poetry. He creates abstract shapes and landscapes while using pigments and clay that he has collected himself during his long journeys. The assembly of these materials gives a perfect finished look to the surface of his works. Santo's pieces allow us to see microworlds hidden in smallness, like if we were seeing grains of sand under a microscope.
