Born in 1976 in Switzerland, Julien Grudzinski graduated with honors from the Beaux-Arts School in Aix-en-Provence.
In hiw works, he questions the symbols of our societies: the representations of good and evil integrated in the collective psyche. Despite the fact that reality is often much more complex, these symbols are rarely put into question. The fear that our ideals might collapse, that we might be marginalized by the rest of society are the main causes of this situation.
The result is a form of behavioral absurdity that Julien Grudzinski reveales to us through burlesque scenes, in which humor allows the challenging of these symbols. At the borders of academic painting, the artist also plays with eras so that the symbols represented in his work are removed from their context through anachronism. Freed of the weight of the history, we see them from a different perspective.
This reflection wants to be as complex as possible because here each being, each object, and each element gets a meaning when it comes in contact with another one. The empty space itself, left so intentionally by the artist, is an invitation for the imagination to achieve the work.
