Ilg?n Seymen was born in Istanbul in 1980. After studying sculpture at the Marmara University of Istanbul, she received Fulbright Scholarship and attended the MFA Sculpture program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Artist had her first solo exhibition “Nothing Personal” at the Melting Point Gallery, San Francisco in 2007, and participated in several group exhibitions in New York, San Francisco and Istanbul. In 2008, Ilg?n Seymen was invited to the Frankfurt Artist in Residence program organized in partnership with Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center.
Between 2008 and 2010 she continued her studio works within ArtCenter Istanbul studio program, and also took part in collaborative workshop projects with international artists directed by Apartment Project. Ilg?n Seymen works with various mediums such as collage, video, photography and installations.
Her research engages in an analysis of everyday life within ordinary activities. On the basis of her works, lays questions and critical approaches about the effects of mass culture on the formation of habituations and life styles.
