Jonathan Anderson and Edwin Low have been collaborating as “Anderson & Low” since 1990. Their work includes portraiture, architectural studies, abstract images, photo-report, nudes, and landscape. They are unique due to their concept, detailed shapes, lights and printing.
Their work explores the themes of heroism, the question of identity and youth culture, combining photography, digital painting and calligraphy to finally create a form of hybrid art. They recently began video art as well.
The duo draws inspiration from Klee, Malevich and Albers.
Anderson & Low are best known for their projects which are inspired by athletes and the world of sports. They were official artists of the Olympiade Culturelle 2012 and received orders from the National Portrait Gallery to design the place of arrival in 3 years, entitled "The Road to 2012". Their work was exhibited before the Olympics at the National Portrait Gallery in downtown London until the end of September 2012.
They have already published several photographic works such as "Athletes" in 2002, "Gymnasts" in 2002 and "Athlete / Warrior" in 2005.
In 2015, Anderson & Low were invited to lead a special project around James Bond "Specter". This was realized at the Pinewood studios in United Kingdom, their project focuses on the magnificence of huge movie sets.
The work of these two artists is exhibited in several private and public international collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston, the National Portrait Gallery in London and Australia, not to mention the High Museum of Art in Baltimore.
