Eric Great-Rex is an English artist, born in 1960.
Eric Great-Rex did his studies in Art in New York due to a scholarship. He turned towards engraving at the Royal College of Art.
The title “Islands” ceramics of Eric Great Rex, revolves around the concept of islands: an enigmatic territory of our feelings and emotions, some islands have a dark side too.
Thus, these islands have names like Regret and Anger, which possibly represent facets of our personality that aren't very pleasant. Whereas the islands Luck and Desire are places we would all like to visit one day.
To create these works, Eric Great-Rex was inspired by a reality TV show called "The Islands". This show asks 30 people to go to a Pacific island and try to survive. The artist watched this program from a sociologist’s angle.
