Born in 1962 - United Kingdom
Jill Iliffe studied Fine Art and Design, going on to gain a Masters in Drawing at Wimbledon School of Art. Her work is usually figurative focussing on detail and moments.
In her work, Jill wants the viewer to focus on what she finds the most interesting part of what she herself has seen, therefore the work is usually very detailed in some areas and other parts are left. She often works in series, sometimes working from life and sometimes from found photographs.
She has worked on a series taken from old photographs, interested in the moment in time and the truth or untruth of the memory from the photograph. Jill Iliffe has created many portraits and another series is a series of drawings of women's hair, drawing finely the beautiful intricacy and texture, but treating each one as a portrait.
