Gemma Cossey

Born in 1974 - United Kingdom

BIOGRAPHY

Gemma Cossey is an English artist born in 1974. She currently lives and works in London. She did her post graduation in art at the Montfort University in Granada and the Fontys Academy in Netherlands.

Her work is about the relationship and the communication between two creative processes: one being planned and framed and the other guided through instinct and coincidence. She uses a lot of signs, lines, shapes in her art. She either combines them together, repeats them many times depending on her mood. She likes to improvise, decide in advance or just go with the flow.
The artist likes to play around with scales. Her art lets out a sense of minimalist calm from far, but the impression isn't the same when one comes closer.

Gemma Cossey exhibited in the UK and abroad, including the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool in 2016, The Cello Factory in London in 2015, The Griffin Gallery in London in 2015, The Lion & Lamb Gallery in 2015, or the Hanmi Gallery in London in 2012 to name a few.
