Rae Hicks was born in London in 1988, and grew up in Somerset before attending the BA Art Practice course at Goldsmiths College in 2008, graduating in 2012.
He lives and works in London.
During his time at Goldsmiths, he took a deferred year out to study at the HFBK Hamburg, Germany, with Anselm Reyle.
Since graduating, he has participated in and co-organised many group shows, including Demimonde (organised by Slate Projects), An Aggregate Material at Lewisham Art House and Types of Wood at Peckham Springs.
Rae Hicks won one of the four secondary prizes at the John Moores Painting Prize 2014, having also exhibited there in 2012. He was the youngest artist at John Moores 2014.
Two of his paintings were included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2015, in the rooms of David Remfry and Jock McFadyen.
