Celia Roberts

Born in 1950 - United Kingdom

Celia Roberts was born in 1950 in Stafford. She studied at Oxford University between 1969-1973 and got her BA Hons in Hebrew.

Celia Roberts’s pictures, although highly influenced by religion, are intended to capture states of feeling rather than theological ideas. The painter has always been fascinated by the idea of the women at the tomb; the Mary Magdalene’s unexpected meeting with someone she thought dead, especially as depicted by Duccio di Buoninsegna.
