Presentation

A Welsh sculptor, originally from Holywell, Gareth Griffiths corrugates steel with finesse. He obtained a diploma in sculpture from the Leeds University, in 2002 and prolonged this training with a masters degree.

His malleable steel is as flexible as the master. Richard Serra's mirrors along with his dizzying curves which portray the genius of the twisted reflection, Dan Graham. The architecture of the American West Coast has a major influence on the geometric shapes of his sculptures.

Abstraction follows fluidity. Lightness flirts with steel in order to create harmonious shapes and colors. His palette has a range of gleaming colors. Delicacy and finesse mark each item, and is cut in an elegant manner.

An honored member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 2015, The artist has been garnering honors by being shortlisted for prestigious Young Artist of the Year awards in Wales or by being the guest of honor at radio and television programs. He has been invited to collaborate with several key institutes: Liverpool Biennial in 2008, Tate Liverpool, Collection gallery, Liverpool, White-wall gallery, Leeds, Whitehall Waterfront Gallery... The open-air sites are filled with his sculptures and are perfectly in keeping with the decor: Birtley House in Guilford, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Hampshire, not to mention Tarpey Gallery at Castle Donington and Walker Galleries in Harrogate.
