At the heart of the emerging young generation, once can't forget about Ivan Forde born in 1990 in Guyana. From engraving to video, not to mention photography or performances, the artist is a protean artist. After an academic course in literature at the State of New York University (SUNY), he turned towards making his passions come true namely photography and new medias.
He draws inspiration from intimate and universal themes such as food, conversation, fashion and family to name a few. Sharing and passing on, are his governing principles while practicing art.
His career is filled with grants, these include Edward and Sally Van Lier, funding from the Contemporary Arts Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, Pioneer Works, Key East Keystone residency and the ACRE program. Ivan Forde did several collective exhibitions and performances, they have become extremely popular, such as The Studio Museum in Harlem, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The DC Arts Center, Lower East Side Print shop, The International Print Center and Newhouse Contemporary Art Center.
