For Scott Gruppé, oil painting is his whole life. Coming from an artistic family, he was born in Boston (USA), has lived in Europe 10 years and has settled in 1990 in Key West, Florida.
His figurative expressionist style is often qualified as poetry in motion. When asked to explain his unique practice, he answered making reference to Fellini: "Do not ask me what I am doing, I do not want to know".
In reality, there is no art that can be compared to his work.
He has had many personal exhibitions in Key West and is represented by various galleries on the north-east coast of the United States.
He works on glass, plexiglas, paper and canvas. Not only does he produce a lot, he is also very successful in the US, where his growing popularity allowed him to make a living only from selling his works for the last 6 years.
