Liliane Lijn is an American artist, born in 1939 in New York and is mainly based in London now.

She moved to Lugano, Switzerland in 1955 where she taught herself painting. She studied history of art and archeology at the Sorbonne in Paris, and lived there from 1958 until 1964, simultaneously practicing painting and sculpture.

Considered as a kinetic artist, Liliane Lijn mainly focuses on light and movement. Indeed, she works with those materials which allow her to play with light such as glass, water, neon or even copper.

She has created several gigantic works, especially a commission of Peter Stuyvesant Foundation for the City Sculpture Project and acquired by the Warwick University.

Her work is part of major collections like Tate, Victoria & Albert Museum and Art Institute of Chicago, MoMA in New York, British Council, British Museum, but also New York Public Library.
