Mark Hopkins is an American artist born in 1965 who lives in New Jersey, United States. From a family of artists, his father is a sculptor, his mother a painter and his twin brother is no other than the painter Gordon Hopkins, he studied arts at the Principia College in Illinois. At first he started a career in modeling and traveled all around the world during fifteen years taking notes and making sketches of structures and people he met, which were sources of inspiration for the work of the artist.

Mark Hopkins makes sculptures in wood, a material that he cuts, glues and assembles. He adds other materials of different textures and adds color to his sculptural compositions. He gets inspired by sketches of structures and urban networks, or human presence observed around him. He adopts an approach similar to raw art, always keeping a high quality in the shape, the hollow, emptiness and fullness.

His work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and in some of the biggest European cities such as Zurich, Geneva, Brussels, Milan and throughout Germany.
