Kalen Ockerman better known as Mear One, his nickname, is an American artist born in Santa Cruz in California, 1971. He is internationally known as one of the pioners of graffiti, a movement that started by the end of the 80s. He currently lives and works in Los Angelos.
Mear One has manage to combine Fine Arts and graffiti, which has made him famous with the general public. His work is politically committed, and combines mythological, philosophical and political references in order to raise conscience of the observer.
Realism and supernatural are the two key elements of Mear One's work. They are on the boundary between reality and imaginary, not in the search for an scape, but in that of a confrontation of current social problems.
Mear One is one of the first graffeurs to have exhibit at the 01 Gallery in Melrose and at the 33 1/3 Gallery in Silverlake. In 2011, he participated in the exhibition Art in the Streets in the Museums of Contemporary Art in Los Angelos.
